2 Peter 1:2 AMPC1 states: “May grace (God’s favor) and peace (which is perfect well-being, all necessary good, all spiritual prosperity, and freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts) be multiplied to you in [the full, personal, precise, and correct] knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. The KJ21 (Kings James 21st Century version)2 phrases it as “through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.” This indicates that both grace and peace are multiplied for us. Multiplied how you may ask – through knowledge of God and of Jesus. How do we obtain that knowledge? We receive it by reading the only source of truth on the planet and by communing with the One Who knows them best, the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. I want to take a moment and share with you a recent revelation that has provided me with knowledge of God that I had never truly considered and let me tell you it is a wonderful thing to grab hold of.
It is centered around the offering and its true purpose and power. The text is located in Leviticus 17:3-6 and requires the Holy Ghost to provide understanding for you to see this truth. This recent revelation has given me a look into the heart of God and what He truly desires from us as His children. God is serious about the offering as it can be seen in the laws and rules that regulated the slaying of animals & offering them as sacrifice, but these scriptures also outline just how serious God is about His relationship with mankind. He is not willing to allow one instance or opportunity for a person to express their gratitude and fellowship with Him to pass by because that is how much He desires to receive the love we should have for Him.
The Life Application Bible3 explains Leviticus 3:1-17 like this: “A person gave a peace offering as an expression of gratitude and a means of maintaining fellowship with God. The animal’s sacrificed life emphasized the value of that gratitude and harmony. Neither peace with God nor thanks to God was to be considered a cheap or unimportant gift. Because it symbolized peace with God, part of the offering could be eaten by the person presenting it.”
Can you see the heart of the Father in that? His compassion, His love and desire for our fellowship and communion that he is willing to place laws and regulations around an activity just to make sure it leads us to spend time with Him. That is an amazing display of love and shows us just what God desires from us most. Every time we think about purchasing something we have always desired, every time we find ourselves with unexpected extra finances or resources, before we use them for selfish desires, we should realize the opportunity to express our love and gratitude to the Father. This expression of our love and appreciation for the peace we have with God should never be something cheap and secondhand nor anything unimportant. He should always be “offered” the very best and most meaningful of what have. This is the heart of the Father, and with this knowledge, both grace and peace can be multiplied to you. Be blessed.
