YES! I Understand It Now! That feeling of empowerment, victory, and triumph that overcomes you when you get that revelation from God during your appointed study time. It’s truly a feeling no other. The question that you so curiously asked when you first became a believer. Or that one topic you overheard during a conversation between two believers who arrogantly “believer” their understanding of the Word trumps everyone else’s in the Kingdom—including God’s 🤔. There is truly nothing like getting a revelation from The Father, especially during those intimate moments of conversation and meditation. They are so powerful and electrifying, and serve as the ultimate indicator that you truly have an established and ever increasing relationship with The Most High.
Wait…So This Ain’t for Winning Arguments?

However, what do we do with that revelation? What is ultimately the purpose of it all? Is it just for mere knowledge so we can add it to our biblical repertoire? Or that long sought after ammunition that we so often load up when it’s time for our next big spiritual debate with peers?
Surely you gest!

As humans with a wealth of knowledge it can be quite easy at times to forget that knowledge is preceded by ignorance much like hunger precedes the act of accumulating food. Which for the Believer can unfortunately mean taking one of the most precious gifts from God (revealed truth) & using it as nothing more than another tier on your argumentized platform. To believe that the most powerful & most purposeful being in existence—the most sovereign and absolute being in existence—not to mention the only being in existence that EXISTS outside of time, space, and matter is giving you profound truth & wisdom for the mere purpose of arguing is undoubtedly the epitome in the definition of foolishness. If not for granting a swift victory in futile conversation then what is the true purpose of revelation? An excellent question—let’s answer it!
Put It to Work Thou Child of God!

When you don’t know the purpose of a thing that only leaves the option of replacing proper use with abuse. While making this mistake is common among humans, it should not be so common among The Believer—if you feel called out congratulations because I did too when God said it to me 😊.

Specifically when the purpose of the Word (intimate revelations included) is so clearly laid out for us to follow. “Where…Sir!” ( A question I literally & so arrogantly asked God once during my 3 seconds of perceiving myself as a biblical scholar) The answer of course rests within the Word itself, specifically 2 Timothy:
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV—all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, [17] so that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Doctrine simply means a specific set of teachings & truths. Reproof is the expressed disapproving of or dismantling of error—which is necessary before correction so the order here is intentional. Correction of course is to provide the clear and proper method, and instructions in righteousness is simply how to live out your newly obtained life as a Believer. The primary focus here is verse 17—so that the man (mankind not gender) of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. In simplified terms that means it’s for you to put into practice not into an argument. The Word of God is only profitable when you apply it to your life. Arguing serves zero purpose. The very outcome of an argumentative nature & misuse of the Word is clearly outlined in Matthew 7 & 2 Timothy as well:
Matthew 7:6 NKJV—do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.
2 Timothy 2:16-18—but shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. [18] And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, [18] who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already passed; and they overthrow the faith of some.
Swine here is simply referring to people who have no regard for something as precious as the Word of God. It means that because they have no regard for it, anything you are attempting to argue with them will be treated as less than mud. Not only will they have no regard for it, but they will also reek havoc on you verbally. Which believe it or not does have an impact on your faith and character, specifically for new believers. This point is further solidified by 2 Timothy 2:16-18 specifically stating the potential of disrupting the faith of some. Imagine being responsible for contributing to the destruction of a Believer’s faith because you woke up that day and decided you were the newly appointed avatar of knowledge.
Humble Yourselves

This is why God provided the governor for such attitudes in His Word as well. These governors can be easily found in both James & 1 Peter:
“Humble yourselves with an attitude of repentance and insignificance in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you. He will lift you up, He will give you purpose”(James 4:10 AMP)
“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God. Set aside self-righteous pride so that He may exalt you to a place of honor in His service at the appropriate time”(1 Peter 5:6 AMP).
When we remember to humble ourselves it allows us to see clearly that the true purpose of revelations from God are to improve our own conduct, our own conversations, our own paradigms, and our own outcomes. Not to be wielded like the great rod of correction or wear as an accolade of knowledge—as if you don’t understand that being a Believer is an indefinite “class is in session” status. You are to be ever learning and ever improving. As the Word says “of the increase of His government there shall be no end”(Isaiah 9:7).
Stay humble, remain true, and remember—there’s no one that desires to be your partner in crime more than arrogance.
Be Blessed.
