POWER!! What is it really. Is it the ability to blast an adversary with fire or beams of light emulating from your fists? Or is it the ability to soar through the air like birds and move mountains with your bare hands? While these and many other phenomenal feats certainly fall into the overarching category of power, Merriam-Webster defines the term like this: the ability to act or produce an effect; an ability that seems extraordinary or superhuman; capacity to be acted upon or to undergo an effect; legal or official authority, capacity, or right.
No matter how you word it these definitions can all be summed up to this—power is the ability to produce change. Whether that change is physical, emotional, consequential, or relational when the element of power is introduced to any situation it causes a change. Even if that change is negative.
That brings me to what I’d like to share with you in this article: the true power of the seed. By seed of course I’m referring to the law & principle of the Kingdom that governs and functions from a seed sown. Throughout the Word of God, you will find one illustration after another where a seed has produced such change that it literally changed the seemingly impossible to possible. Let’s get into it.
What is The Seed

In simple terms a seed is anything that can be planted into any destination that has been identified as and has the potential to function as ground, meaning it will grow what is planted in it. This holds true for words, mankind, animals, and nature.
When a male, be it human or animal, impregnates a female she has received the planting of a seed. That seed produces changes in her body that ultimately result in the reproduction of another living thing. The same happens when a farmer plants various seeds in his fields and over the course of time those seeds produce changes in the ground and become a full harvest. Where there was once just dirt, there is now a source of food (another essential of life).
Just like with humans, animals, & plants our words are also seeds and carry withing them the ability to produce change. In John 6:63 Jesus says that the words He speak are spirit and they are life. Indicating their ability to cause change & inject life to situations and circumstances.
For instance, when a mother speaks words of encouragement to her child that child becomes inspired. Where they may have once felt doubtful, they now have the belief and confidence needed to accomplish what has been set before them. Hence, her words have produced change in that child.
These illustrations show us that no matter what the situation, if there is a specific and desired outcome it begins with sowing the right seed. To paint an even clearer picture of the seed’s true power we’ll look at three of the best examples contained in the Word of God. First up, the literal and natural seed.
Power to Produce Change

When it comes to the natural and literal seed there is no greater example in the Word than Isaac’s situation found in Genesis 26. The chapter starts off the bat telling us that there’s a famine in the land (1). No matter how you slice it there’s nothing good about a famine.
Famine is a catastrophic state of existence and event that causes widespread shortage, sickness, and often death. The three elements of The Curse. History has shown that although manageable, the aftermath of a famine is certainly something no one should ever have to deal with (2).
Needless to say, Isaac was naturally not in a good place. However, he was exactly where God instructed him to be which means something had to take place to change his situation and circumstance. This is where the seed comes in. By verses 12 & 13 we see that Isaac sowed (planted seed)in that land. And then what happened—he reaped in the same year a hundredfold. Now if you need an understanding of what the hundredfold looks like see Ephesians 3:8 AMPC.
Here was a man specifically instructed by God to remain in a land that had a current famine and all that was needed to change the status, productivity, and potential of that land was a seed. So much that it specifically states he began and continued to prosper, & he became very prosperous. Very Prosperous!? In the middle of a famine! Now, if that’s not an example of power I don’t know what is. A perfect example of a literal and natural seed, through obedience & faith, injecting God’s power to change the outcome of a situation. Now let’s look at another illustration of the power of a seed in the form of words.
The Words He Speaks, They Are Spirit, and They Are, Death? 🤔

As previously stated, words are seeds that carry the spiritual power of life. However, that is not the only power they carry. According to Proverbs 18:21 both death AND life are in the power of the tongue.
Just like the right words can lift a person up and change their desired outcome, the wrong words can do the opposite. Specifically, when those words are acted upon. There is no better illustration of this than the situation of Adam and Eve.
Genesis 3:1-6 outlines the situation for us: [v1] Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he SAID to the woman, “Has God indeed said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” [v2] And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; [v3] but of the fruit of the three which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.” [v4] Then the serpent SAID to the woman, “You will not surely die. [v5] For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” [v6] So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
Did you see what happened there? Eve clearly knew the instructions (words) that had been spoken by God, but she chose to listen to the “words” (seed) of another and allow them to be planted in her heart (soul). And Adam did the same by accepting that same bad seed from her. Your soul is the destination that has been identified as and has the potential to function as ground when it comes to words. It is literally designed to grow any data (words, images, sounds) that is injected into it.
When Eve chose to accept the words of Satan, her heart (soul) began to immediately cultivate that seed into a future harvest. And what was that harvest—the destruction of destiny for all of mankind. Because they chose to receive and cultivate the wrong seed, the power of that seed changed the status, outcome, potential, and productivity of the entire human race from that moment on. Talk about a bad harvest. But God is good, and thankfully He didn’t let it end there. For our final example we will look at the literal Greatest of All Time when it comes to seeds!
And The Word Became Flesh

After the actions of Adam & Eve mankind was on a one-way trip to darkness under the threefold manifestation of The Curse (Poverty, Sickness, Death). A situation no man could change. But God is faithful. He will not leave you without a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13).
How do you stop or alter the trajectory of a seemingly unstoppable force—by meeting it with an equal or greater force. In this case, the Greater: And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:14)
When the course & destiny of mankind needed to be corrected, changed, and reset God used words—His Word: And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit” will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God (Luke 1:35 NKJV). For with God nothing is ever impossible and no WORD from God shall be without POWER or impossible of fulfillment (Luke 1:37 AMPC)
And thus, was born the Savior of humanity. A seed (Word) planted in the ground of a woman that when delivered produced the power that changed the destiny of mankind. Where the outcome was once death, it has been changed to life. God is truly an awesome God. I mean who else could use an algebraic equation to save humanity (mankind + sin = death, Jesus subtracted sin from both sides by not sinning; removing both sin & death leaving only life).
Final Thoughts
The power of a seed is so great that the entire Kingdom of God functions on it. God placed that same system inside of mankind so that whatever we desired to be all we have to do is plant that on the inside of us, cultivate it (through meditation) and it will grow and produce a desired harvest. This process is outlined in Joshua 1:8.
When we realize and see the true power of a seed all limits are removed. God gave me this revelation one day as I was meditating Luke 1:37 AMPC: For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word (seed) from God shall be without power (the ability to produce change) or impossible of fulfillment (completion). Resultingly, I now read that scripture like this: For with God nothing is ever impossible, and no seed shall be without the ability to produce change or impossible of producing a harvest.
Whether it’s a financial seed, a word seed, or even a seed of action it matters not. For every situation and desired outcome in your life, find a seed and plant it. Because when you sow, your seed will change the condition, status, outcome, productivity, & potential of your environment, situation, circumstance, or challenge in life. And Luke 1:37 guarantees it.
Be Blessed!
